Over the next few weeks I'll be posting pics of our completed sewing room. We all love how it turned out and it's already gotten a lot of use with a very busy past couple of months. But first I wanted to tell you about my lighting. One of the key upgrades we needed for the sewing room was really good lighting so we could work when it was dark or winter outside. Before we would go out wanting to get a full day of sewing in on a day we were stuck inside but get so depressed in a matter of minutes we'd come back in. A couple years previous Dad had put a new window in and that helped but still needed more. We ended up installing 4 Led 4 ft lights on the ceiling, I believe they show up on a previous post, but I had also been saving some Joann's gift cards that my friends had given me for a lasting purpose, so I decided I would also buy some spot lights with them so I could light up my work or my photography corner even more if need be. I waited till the OttLite brand went on sale at Joann's Fabrics so I could get the most from my money. I had my eye on this one called the OttLite Avery LED Floor Lamp but I couldn't tell from the pics if the two lamps could swivel. I wanted them to since I'd like to face them in the same direction to shine them on an item I was photographing, or if me and a friend were both sewing or crocheting we could adjust them as needed. The listing didn't say but I noticed that since it was made from a wooden pole I figured there was a way to remake it if need be. Sure enough when we received it the lamps were designed to stay in place only adjusting up and down. But Dad to the rescue again. We noticed that a saw in the right spot would make them independent of one another but how to hold them together? Dad amazingly found a piece of grey PVC pipe that fit perfectly. So now I can swivel my lights to my hearts content. I did notice at Ikea they make a lamp that adjusts in both directions but I wanted the Ottlite for it natural daylight bulbs and plus I had the gift card for Joann's so these worked out to being free for me. Stop by soon to see more about our sewing room upgrades.
